Days 1–2
Muscat and coast
Discover the Sultan Qaboos mosque and Muscat’s museums with your guide at a measured pace, pausing for coffee and viewpoints along the corniche. If seas are calm, the mosque visit can be substituted with a boat ride to the Daymaniyat Islands for easy snorkelling over bright reefs. Stroll Mutrah in the evening for a sense of old Muscat.

Nizwa and the interior
Wander Nizwa’s souq and climb the fort for views. Continue to Jabrin Castle for painted ceilings, then stretch your legs on the falaj path at Birkat Al Mouz. Overnight on Jabal Akhdar with cool air and wide skies.

Fly south
Return to Muscat and fly to Salalah. Check in at a coastal hotel, with time for the beach or a sunset walk among coconut palms.

Frankincense country
Visit UNESCO frankincense sites and Wadi Dawkah’s groves. Explore small coastal villages near Mirbat and sample fresh seafood.

Day 6
Mountains and blowholes
Drive up to the Jebel Samhan viewpoint and the Tawi Attair sinkhole, then follow the coast to Mughsail for the blowholes and a cliff path in late light.

Day 7
Secluded beach day
Spend an easy day at a calm cove east of Mirbat. Swim, snorkel if suitable, and enjoy a simple picnic with fresh fruit.

Edge of the Empty Quarter
Venture to the edge of the Rub’ al Khali with an experienced guide. Feel the scale of the dunes and, if you wish, arrange a pared-back overnight under very bright stars.

Dhofar at leisure
Browse Salalah’s souqs, walk the coast and linger over a long lunch. Leave space to relax before travel.
